Provides that a municipality may no longer approve redevelopment plans or redevelopment projects, designate redevelopment project areas, alter the exterior boundaries of a redevelopment project area, affect the general land uses established under a redevelopment plan, or change the nature of a redevelopment project. States that the purposes are to stop any new plans and projects and to forbid the expansion of any existing plans or projects. Effective immediately. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by 6 adding Section 11-74.4-10.5 as follows: 7 (65 ILCS 5/11-74.4-10.5 new) 8 Sec. 11-74.4-10.5. Limitation on powers. On and after 9 the effective date of this amendatory Act of 1997, no 10 municipality may approve redevelopment plans or redevelopment 11 projects, designate redevelopment project areas, alter the 12 exterior boundaries of a redevelopment project area, affect 13 the general land uses established under a redevelopment plan, 14 or change the nature of a redevelopment project. The 15 purposes of this Section are to stop any new plans and 16 projects and to forbid the expansion of any existing plans or 17 projects. 18 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 19 becoming law.
