90_HR0730 LRB9013808KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to honor Representative Robert L. 4 Bergman as he retires from the House; and 5 WHEREAS, Representative Bergman is from the 54th District 6 and a lifelong resident of Palatine Township; he is the 7 father of 4 children: Jennifer, Jessica, Daniel, and Robert; 8 he attended William Rainey Harper College: Transportation and 9 Highway Institute; and 10 WHEREAS, Representative Bergman is a member of the 11 Fraternal Order of Eagles, the American Road and 12 Transportation Builder's Association, the National Asphalt 13 Recycling and Reclaiming Association, the Taxpayer's 14 Federation of Illinois, the Northwest Tax Watch, the 15 Heartland Institute, and the Alliance Against Intoxicated 16 Motorists; he is a past member of the Palatine Jaycees; he is 17 a member of the Board of Directors, as well as a former 18 president and vice-president of the Township Officials of 19 Cook County; he is a member of the Board of Directors and the 20 Legislative Chairman, as well as former president, secretary, 21 and treasurer of the Township Highway Commissioner's 22 Association of Cook County; and 23 WHEREAS, Representative Bergman has served the Republican 24 party in many different areas, from Precinct Captain of 25 Palatine Township in 1972, to his appointment as State 26 Representative in 1996; and 27 WHEREAS, Representative Bergman has been a self-employed 28 trucking contractor for 25 years; he has served as a 29 political and governmental consultant; he is a former 30 Managerial Assistant for the Illinois Secretary of State; 31 from 1973 to 1997 he served as the Palatine Township Highway 32 Commissioner; and -2- LRB9013808KBkb 1 WHEREAS, In 1997, Representative Bergman received the 2 National Award for Outstanding Accomplishment from the 3 National Asphalt Recycling and Reclaiming Association; and 4 WHEREAS, Representative Bergman has served on the 5 following House Committees: Appropriations-General Services 6 and Government Oversight, Consumer Protection, Human 7 Services, and Local Government; and 8 WHEREAS, Representative Bergman will be missed by his 9 friends and colleagues in the House; therefore, be it 10 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 11 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 12 congratulate Representative Bergman on a job well done; we 13 wish him success in his future endeavors; and be it further 14 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 15 presented to Representative Robert Bergman.
