90_HR0659 LRB9013560KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Thomas 4 E. Walsh; and 5 WHEREAS, Thomas Walsh was a veteran of the United States 6 Army; from 1966 to 1991 Mr. Walsh served on the Chicago 7 Police Department; from 1991 to 1998 he worked with the Cook 8 County Sheriff's Department as an Assistant Chief, working as 9 a supervisor for court security for the Harrison Area Police 10 Headquarters; and 11 WHEREAS, Thomas Walsh was a coach for Mt. Greenwood 12 Little League, coaching the Orioles and the Falcons; Mr. 13 Walsh was a coach for the Mt. Greenwood football program; he 14 started the Mt. Greenwood wrestling program, where he coached 15 the Dalton Falcons and the Burbank Panthers; Mr. Walsh also 16 participated in athletic events, playing softball for the 8th 17 and 9th Districts in Chicago's Police League from 1966 to 18 1998, and playing tennis, intending to master the sport; and 19 WHEREAS, Thomas Walsh believed in public service, working 20 with Senator Jeremiah Joyce, Sheriff Mike Sheahan, and 21 Alderman Ginger Rugai; Mr. Walsh worked with many campaigns, 22 including: Aldermen Murphy and Wojcik, Congressman Lipinski 23 and Rostenkowski, State's Attorney Dick Devine and Attorney 24 General Jim Ryan, State Representative Thomas Dart, and Water 25 Reclamation Commissioners Kathleen Meany and Patricia Young; 26 Mr. Walsh was considered the voice of the working man by the 27 many people whose campaigns he worked with, and they 28 considered him an important and valued friend; and 29 WHEREAS, Thomas Walsh is survived by his wife, Barbara; 30 his sons, Michael, Daniel, and William; his daughter, Karen; 31 his two brothers, Robert M. and Donald A.; and the community 32 of youngsters who will miss their coach and biggest fan; -2- LRB9013560KBkb 1 therefore, be it 2 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 3 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 4 mourn, along with his family and friends, the loss of Thomas 5 Walsh; may they find a measure of comfort in this time of 6 need; and be it further 7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 8 presented to the family of Thomas Walsh.
