1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestones within
4 the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, The Glenview Senior Citizens Club of Glenview,
6 Illinois is celebrating its fortieth anniversary in 1998; and
7 WHEREAS, Organized in 1958 with 11 original members, the
8 Glenview Senior Citizens Club has grown to over 1000 members
9 today; in 1958 the meetings were an opportunity to socialize
10 and play cards, today's meetings involve over 40 active
11 programs, each with its own chairperson; from crafts and
12 choral group, to health assistance and physical fitness, the
13 Glenview Senior Citizens Club offers something for everyone;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, The Glenview Senior Citizens Club has been
16 honored by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community
17 Affairs with 2 Governor's Hometown Awards; the first was in
18 1988 for Community Involvement and the second was given in
19 1998 for Individuals & Issues; and
20 WHEREAS, The Glenview Senior Citizens Club has received
21 statewide recognition for: intergenerational activities in
22 cooperation with the Glenview School System; the VIP
23 (Visually Impaired Persons) Group; using local cable
24 television to provide the Club's programs to the community;
25 and transportation provided to members free of charge; and
26 WHEREAS, The Glenview Senior Citizens Club should be
27 proud of its many accomplishments and the fine work that it
28 does for the community; therefore, be it
29 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
30 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
31 congratulate the Glenview Senior Citizens Club on 40 years of

1 service to the community; may it continue to be a place of
2 rest and relaxation for the seniors of the area; and be it
3 further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to the Glenview Senior Citizens Club.
