1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestones within
4 the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, The First Baptist Church in Urbana is
6 celebrating it's one hundred and sixtieth anniversary in
7 1998; it is Champaign County's oldest organized church,
8 having the first church bell and the first pipe organ among
9 many county churches; and
10 WHEREAS, Current membership is around seventy people; the
11 current pastor is Reverend Clayton Self; and
12 WHEREAS, The church celebrated it's anniversary on
13 September 20, 1998; many events and special moments were
14 planned by the pastor, the church boards, and the church
15 committees; therefore, be it
16 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
18 congratulate First Baptist Church in Urbana, Illinois on the
19 celebration of their anniversary; and be it further
20 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21 presented to First Baptist Church in Urbana, Illinois.
