1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the
3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage
4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for
5 the people of the State of Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs.
7 Bob Oakes of Tolono will celebrate the fiftieth anniversary
8 of their marriage; and
9 WHEREAS, They are the loving parents of Sharon Ellis,
10 Vicki Foley, Sheila Oakes, David Oakes, and Ken Oakes, and
11 they have six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and
12 WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its
13 highest plateaus when a couple such as Bob and Betty Oakes
14 celebrate their golden wedding anniversary; and
15 WHEREAS, Bob and Betty Oakes stand as examples of the
16 best of our society, and their love and devotion to each
17 other and to their family and friends serve as a reminder to
18 all that hard work, dedication, and love can make a
19 difference in today's world; therefore be it
20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
22 congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Bob Oakes on the occasion of their
23 fiftieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them for
24 achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with children
25 and grandchildren and rich in friendships; and that we wish
26 them happiness and good health in the future; and be it
27 further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to them as an expression of our respect and esteem.
