90_HR0573 LRB9012426KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to congratulate Julie Maschhoff of 4 Carlyle, Illinois on receiving one of the Outstanding Working 5 Women of Illinois awards from the Illinois Federation of 6 Business and Professional Women; and 7 WHEREAS, Julie Maschhoff graduated with honors from 8 Kaskaskia College and the University of Illinois; she is a 9 graduate of the Illinois Ag Leaders of Tomorrow, a program 10 sponsored by the Illinois Farm Bureau; and 11 WHEREAS, Julie Maschhoff is also a graduate of the 12 Illinois Agricultural Leadership Program, a two-year program 13 with seminars held at various universities and businesses in 14 Illinois; in 1995 Mrs. Maschhoff spent 10 days studying 15 agricultural and trade issues in the nation's capitol, and in 16 1996 she spent 15 days studying in China and Hong Kong; and 17 WHEREAS, Julie Maschhoff was the first woman asked to 18 testify before the United States Congress Ag Appropriation 19 Committee, on behalf of the National Pork Producers Council; 20 she was the first woman invited to speak to the P.I.C. 21 International Seminar at the 1997 World Pork Expo; she was 22 the first woman to serve on the Environmental Task Force for 23 the National Pork Producers Council from 1991 to 1994; she 24 was the chairwoman for the first Illinois Livestock Waste 25 Seminars from 1991 to 1993; she was moderator at the National 26 Environmental Symposium in Minneapolis in 1993; she was the 27 only female participant in the public debate on agriculture 28 policy issues at the National Ag Forum in Des Moines, Iowa, 29 in 1994; and she was the director of the Illinois Pork 30 Producer Association during the merger with the Illinois Pork 31 Association Women; and 32 WHEREAS, Julie Maschhoff has received the Distinguished -2- LRB9012426KBkb 1 Service Award from the Okawville Jaycees; the Washington 2 County Outstanding 4-H Alumni award; the Centralia BPW Young 3 Careerist award; the first runner-up in BPW/Illinois Young 4 Careerist competition for 1989; the Ten Outstanding Young 5 People Award from the Illinois Jaycees in 1992; and in 1990 6 her family received the Illinois Pork Producer Family of the 7 Year Award; and 8 WHEREAS, Julie Maschhoff is a member of the Centralia 9 Business and Professional Women; she is a member of Trinity 10 Lutheran Church, and has worked with the American Diabetes 11 Association; together with her husband, Ken, they have four 12 children; therefore, be it 13 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 14 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 15 congratulate Julie Maschhoff on receiving one of the 16 Outstanding Working Women of Illinois awards; and be it 17 further 18 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 19 presented to Julie Maschhoff.
