1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that the Edgewater
3 Chamber of Commerce is presenting this year's "Pride of
4 Edgewater Award" to Reverend Laurence Maddock; and
5 WHEREAS, Father Maddock was selected for his leadership
6 in keeping St. Ita's Roman Catholic Church as a strong and
7 vital presence in the community; and
8 WHEREAS, Laurence Farrell Maddock was born on March 23,
9 1930 in Oak Park, the son of Laurence and Marjorie Maddock;
10 he graduated from Quigley Preparatory Seminary, attended St.
11 Mary of the Lake Seminary, and was ordained May 1, 1946 by
12 Samuel Cardinal Stritch; and
13 WHEREAS, After serving at Queen of All Saints Parish,
14 Infant Jesus of Prague Parish, Immaculate Conception Parish,
15 St. Gregory the Great Parish, and the Maternity of the
16 Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, he was appointed Pastor of St.
17 Ita Parish by Joseph Cardinal Bernardin; and
18 WHEREAS, The church will be celebrating her 100th
19 anniversary in the year 2000; Father Maddock is overseeing a
20 building restoration; and
21 WHEREAS, Father Maddock and St. Ita's both deserve our
22 admiration; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
25 commend and congratulate Reverend Laurence F. Maddock on the
26 honor being paid him by the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce and
27 wish to extend our best to him for the future; and be it
28 further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to Reverend Laurence F. Maddock.
