1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Ida Fitzgerald on her
4 retirement from the Township of Evanston; and
5 WHEREAS, Ida Fitzgerald has worked eighteen years with
6 the Township; she is the first Township employee to retire
7 from the Township; and
8 WHEREAS, She has been an active member of the Social
9 Worker's Division of both the Township Officials of Illinois
10 and the Township Officials of Cook County, where she served
11 several years as the secretary; and
12 WHEREAS, Ida Fitzgerald is originally from Como,
13 Mississippi; she has been a resident of Evanston for forty
14 years; she and her husband, Irwin, have four children and
15 five grandchildren; and
16 WHEREAS, Ida Fitzgerald is a life member of the NAACP,
17 where she has served as a Deputy Registrar and Election Judge
18 for over ten years; for 39 years she has been a member of
19 Mount Zion Baptist Church, holding numerous leadership roles,
20 including president of the missionary department; she is the
21 founder of the Evanston Community Street Ministry; and
22 WHEREAS, Ida Fitzgerald has served as the statewide
23 scholarship chairperson for missionary women; she has been
24 known to not only work as a job developer for Township
25 clients but any resident seeking employment; and
26 WHEREAS, Ida also works with senior citizens, helping
27 them to access services ranging from home health care to the
28 completion of tax returns, social security, and Medicare
29 benefits; therefore, be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
2 congratulate Ida Fitzgerald on a job well done; we hope she
3 enjoys her retirement and her future; and be it further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to Ida Fitzgerald, along with our sincere regards.
