90_HR0507 LRB9012272CBcb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The winners of the 1998 Governor's Home Town 3 Awards, which recognize contributions by volunteers to a 4 community, will be announced June 17, 1998; and 5 WHEREAS, The awards are meant to demonstrate that 6 volunteers can make a difference in the lives of their fellow 7 citizens; and 8 WHEREAS, The Vernon Hills Community Playground Project, 9 Kids' Castle, was designed, funded, and built by community 10 volunteers; a committee comprised of 38 volunteer residents 11 were divided among 9 subcommittees; over 6,000 volunteer 12 hours were needed to complete all the planning details; and 13 WHEREAS, Funds were raised through the participation of 14 the Village of Vernon Hills, the Vernon Hills Park District, 15 local residents, area businesses, and school children; 2,382 16 volunteers volunteered over 14,000 hours to construct this 17 playground; and 18 WHEREAS, This project proves that volunteers provide a 19 vital service to Illinois communities and citizens; 20 therefore, be it 21 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 22 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 23 congratulate the Vernon Hills Community Playground Project, 24 the Kids' Castle, on winning a Governor's Home Town Award and 25 that we commend the participants on their hard work and 26 dedication to community service; and be it further 27 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 28 presented to the Playground Project Committee.
