1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives are
3 honored to recognize significant milestones in the lives of
4 people of this State; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Debra B.
6 Walker is being installed as President of the Women's Bar
7 Association of Illinois; and
8 WHEREAS, A farmer's daughter from Carthage, Ms. Walker is
9 a 1982 magna cum laude Accountancy alumnus of the University
10 of Illinois; as an undergraduate, she was named to Beta Alpha
11 Psi; she immediately passed the CPA examination and worked in
12 public accounting for two years at McGladrey & Pullen in
13 Champaign; and
14 WHEREAS, She attended the University of Illinois College
15 of Law, where she was selected the Outstanding Woman Law
16 Graduate for the Class of 1987; during law school, Ms. Walker
17 was secretary and president of the International Law Society,
18 the American Bar Association law student representative,
19 Client Counseling Competition Chairman, and Negotiations
20 Competition Founder and Chairman; she was also a law clerk at
21 Meyer, Capel, Hirschfeld, Muncy, Jahn & Aldeen in Champaign;
22 and
23 WHEREAS, Following graduation from law school, Ms. Walker
24 gained litigation experience with the Chicago law firm of
25 Williams & Montgomery, Ltd.; she joined Brydges Riseborough
26 in April of 1993, and since July of 1996 Ms. Walker has been
27 associated with Clausen Miller P.C.; and
28 WHEREAS, Ms. Walker was appointed to the University of
29 Illinois College of Law Board of Visitors in 1993 after
30 having co-chaired the Law Alumni fund drive; in 1995, she was
31 appointed the charter chairman of the University of Illinois

1 College of Law Recent Alumni Advisory Board; Ms. Walker is a
2 founding member of the College of Law's Cribbet Society, a
3 member of the University of Illinois President's Council, and
4 a life-time member of the University of Illinois Alumni
5 Association; she was recently presented the University of
6 Illinois College of Law Outstanding Alumni Award for Alumni
7 Service; and
8 WHEREAS, Ms. Walker is a past president of the North
9 Michigan Avenue Business & Professional Women's Network, a
10 member of the State board of directors for the Illinois
11 Federation of Business & Professional Women, the first vice
12 president of the Women's Bar Association of Illinois, and a
13 member of the Chicago Bar Association and Illinois State Bar
14 Association; and
15 WHEREAS, Ms. Debra B. Walker is indeed worthy of our
16 highest praise; therefore, be it
17 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
19 congratulate Ms. Debra B. Walker on being installed as
20 President of the Women's Bar Association of Illinois and
21 extend to her our sincere best wishes for the future; and be
22 it further
23 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
24 presented to Ms. Debra B. Walker.
