1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, This House takes great pleasure in honoring
3 citizens of this State on outstanding occasions; and
4 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Florence B.
5 Theus Winston is celebrating the 100th anniversary of her
6 birth; and
7 WHEREAS, She was born on June 2, 1898 in Jackson County,
8 Tennessee, the daughter of Alfred and Betty Theus; she was
9 married to Fred Winston, a union to which one daughter was
10 born; she then moved to Evanston, Illinois, where has she
11 resided for over 50 years; and
12 WHEREAS, Mrs. Winston volunteered in the Community
13 Hospital Auxiliary, was active in the Eastern Stars
14 Organization, and gave her time and talents to the Senior
15 Choir and Flower Club of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church; and
16 WHEREAS, Throughout the past 100 years, Mrs. Winston has
17 witnessed the coming of many wondrous inventions, historic
18 occasions, and changes in society, and her memories and
19 experiences create a legacy enjoyed by her family and
20 friends; therefore, be it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
22 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
23 congratulate Mrs. Florence B. Theus Winston on the occasion
24 of her 100th birthday and extend our sincere best wishes to
25 her for the future; and be it further
26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
27 presented to her as an expression of our respect and esteem.
