1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Operation Graduation is a six-state campaign
3 devoted to the safety of high school seniors on graduation
4 night; the campaign is designed to fund alcohol-free and drug
5 free graduation parties that are safe, memorable, and fun;
6 and
7 WHEREAS, In an effort to encourage high schools to hold
8 alcohol-free, drug-free graduation parties, local cable
9 systems in the Midwest region are donating money to
10 corresponding area high schools; this project also provides
11 high schools with information kits containing an Operation
12 Graduation How-to Guide, pamphlets and brochures on the
13 dangers of drunk driving, statistical information, and other
14 resources for promoting Operation Graduation; and
15 WHEREAS, Together, local cable systems and our
16 communities are fighting to stop needless deaths on our roads
17 and highways that result from reckless behavior on graduation
18 night; therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
21 do hereby proclaim the weekend of June 5-7, 1998 as
22 "Operation Graduation Weekend".
