1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate the Illinois Federation
4 of Business and Professional Women on their upcoming
5 anniversary; and
6 WHEREAS, The Illinois Federation of Business and
7 Professional Women (BPW/IL) is celebrating seventy-eight
8 years of serving the needs of professional women in the State
9 of Illinois; the organization was incorporated in 1920, with
10 one hundred current local organizations, with 3,000 members
11 statewide; BPW/IL is associated with the national federation,
12 BPW/USA; and
13 WHEREAS, The incoming president is Theresa Faith Cummings
14 of Springfield; Theresa Faith Cummings is the Equal
15 Employment Opportunity Officer for the Illinois Department of
16 Natural Resources; and
17 WHEREAS, Theresa Faith Cummings has tremendous career
18 experiences as an assistant director of a State agency,
19 executive director of a not-for-profit agency, and a
20 classroom teacher; and
21 WHEREAS, Theresa Faith Cummings is an active leader in
22 her profession and serves on the board of the Imperial Credit
23 Union and has served as the president of professional and
24 volunteer organizations such as the Central Illinois Chapter
25 of the American Society of Public Administrators, the
26 Springfield Chapter of the National Association of Women
27 Business Owners, and the Sangamon County Historical Society;
28 and
29 WHEREAS, Her active memberships include the National
30 Women's Political Caucus, Crimestoppers, State Historical
31 Society, Illinois Women in Government, Illinois Professional

1 Women's Council, AAUW, St. Paul AME Church, Iota Phi Lambda
2 Sorority, and Convocom; and
3 WHEREAS, These activities demonstrate Theresa Faith
4 Cummings' broad interest in her community, people, and
5 government, and exemplify the goals of BPW/IL and BPW/USA
6 which are to assist each professional woman; and
7 WHEREAS, BPW/IL helps women through local, district,
8 State and national meetings and conferences; through
9 scholarships to help with educational needs; through advocacy
10 at the State and national level, working with government to
11 assure equal opportunities; and through an affiliation with
12 BPW/USA; therefore, be it
13 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
15 congratulate the Illinois Federation of Business and
16 Professional Women on the occasion of their seventy-eighth
17 year in the field of advancing professional women; and be it
18 further
19 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 presented to the Illinois Federation of Business and
21 Professional Women and their incoming president, Theresa
22 Faith Cummings.
