1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Leroy Scott of Toledo,
4 Illinois on being chosen a Master Farmer by Prairie Farmer
5 magazine; and
6 WHEREAS, Leroy Scott is a fifth generation landowner in
7 the Embarras River bottom; in 1993 Mr. Scott met with five
8 other farmers and formed the Embarras River Management
9 Association (ERMA), a group that works together to stop the
10 erosion of the soil around the Embarras River area; Scott is
11 president and his wife, Patsy, serves as his secretary; and
12 WHEREAS, In addition to farming and working with ERMA,
13 Leroy and Patsy attend the Mattoon Christian Church, where
14 Leroy has served as both a trustee and an elder; Patsy works
15 full time keeping books for the farm and maintaining the
16 Easi-crop grain ticket programs at harvest time; the Scotts
17 are the proud parents of Robin Smith, who lives in Morris,
18 Illinois with her husband, Randy, and their son, Jacob; their
19 other daughter, Jane Adams, lives in Mattoon, and her
20 daughter Abby is a sophomore at Southern Illinois University;
21 and
22 WHEREAS, Four farmers from Illinois have been selected as
23 1998 Master Farmers; Prairie Farmer magazine honored the four
24 farmers at a recent ceremony; therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
27 congratulate Leroy Scott on being named a Master Farmer by
28 Prairie Farmer magazine; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to Leroy Scott of Toledo, Illinois.
