1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Winston E. Kennedy on
4 being honored by the Blue Gargoyle, a community social
5 service agency; and
6 WHEREAS, Winston E. Kennedy served with the United States
7 Navy, from 1944 to 1946, in the Pacific Theater; he graduated
8 with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Roosevelt University in
9 1949; and
10 WHEREAS, From 1949 to 1954 Winston Kennedy was Project
11 Manager for the Chicago Housing Authority; from 1956 to 1967
12 he worked as the Manager of the University of Chicago's
13 Community and Real Estate Office, where he acquired and
14 renovated housing for staff and married students; he oversaw
15 the purchase of 104 parcels of land for the new Stagg Field;
16 in 1967 he founded Kennedy, Ryan, Monigal, which continues to
17 serve the public at 5508 S. Lake Park Avenue; and
18 WHEREAS, Winston Kennedy has been involved in many
19 important organizations, including: the Blue Gargoyle, where
20 he has served on the Board, twice as its President; The Hyde
21 Park Historical Society, where he is a Charter member; Win is
22 a forty-year member of Kiwanis; an integral part of the Hyde
23 Park Chamber of Commerce; a former board member of the Hyde
24 Park Co-op; a member of 1st Unitarian Church; a trustee for
25 the Unitarian/Universalist Service Committee (Boston); a
26 Trustee for Starr King Divinity School (Berkeley); and he has
27 served on the Chicago Association of Realtors Board for many
28 years, and as its President from 1992 to 1993; therefore, be
29 it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
31 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
32 congratulate Winston Kennedy on his impressive civic

1 commitments and on his Blue Gargoyle honor; and be it further
2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to Winston E. Kennedy and his wonderful wife,
4 Margaret.
