90_HR0341 LRB9011763CBcb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the House were saddened to learn 3 of the death of Duane K. "Dewey" Kessler on Monday, December 4 22, 1997; and 5 WHEREAS, He was born in Hardinville on June 23, 1935, the 6 son of Oscar C. and Susan Pauline Osborne Kessler; and 7 WHEREAS, He was a lifelong resident of the Centralia 8 area; he was vice president of finance and operations at 9 Kaskaskia College until his retirement on June 30, 1995; he 10 had been part-time membership development director for the 11 Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce since his retirement; 12 and 13 WHEREAS, A veteran of the U. S. Army, he was a member of 14 the First United Methodist Church; he had served on Marion 15 County Board for 13 years; and 16 WHEREAS, He was a member of Delta Tau Delta National 17 Fraternity, U of I Alumni Association, Centralia Noon Rotary, 18 Centralia Elks Lodge #493, Meadow Woods Country Club, 19 Healthcare Foundation Board, Strategic Planning Council, and 20 Centralia Sports Hall of Fame; and 21 WHEREAS, He was was a past chairman of the Centralia Area 22 United Fund, Past President of the Centralia Jaycees, and was 23 a recipient of the Jaycees Outstanding Citizen Award; he was 24 a member of Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce, where he 25 was a past president, served as a chamber ambassador, and was 26 serving as chairman of the Centralia Industrial Commission; 27 and 28 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family 29 and friends, especially his wife, Mary Jo; his sons and 30 daughters-in-law, D. Keith and Cindy and Kendall and Valerie; 31 his daughter and son-in-law, Kristen and Jim Holtkamp; his -2- LRB9011763CBcb 1 brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Marsha and Dann and 2 Terry; and his grandchildren, Travis, Jacob and Abbey 3 Holtkamp, Duane Keith Kessler III, and Clare Kessler; 4 therefore, be it 5 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 6 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 7 note with sorrow and regret the death of Dewey Kessler and 8 extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and 9 be it further 10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 11 presented to his widow, Mary Jo Kessler.
