90_HR0337 LRB9011629KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives wishes to 3 congratulate Dick Ladzinski upon his retirement from the 4 Illinois State Council of Carpenters; and 5 WHEREAS, Dick Ladzinski was born on January 20, 1933, in 6 LaSalle, Illinois; his parents were Florence and Edward 7 Ladzinski; Dick became an apprentice carpenter on February 7, 8 1952; his apprenticeship was interrupted while Dick served 9 his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War; 10 Dick served for four years with the Seabees in Mobile 11 Construction Battalion #5 and Amphibious Construction 12 Battalion #1 before being honorably discharged with the rank 13 of Builder First Class; and 14 WHEREAS, Dick Ladzinski went on to become an active 15 member of the local union where he was elected to serve as 16 financial secretary; he was elected to serve as Business 17 Representative of Local Union 195 in Peru, Illinois in 1967; 18 and 19 WHEREAS, Dick Ladzinski was an active delegate to the 20 Illinois Valley Building Trades Council, where he served for 21 ten years as a trustee to the Geneva Welfare and Pension 22 Fund; Dick also served as a member of the LaSalle County 23 Planning Commission; and 24 WHEREAS, After serving as Business Representative, Dick 25 was elected and served as an organizer for the Fox River 26 Valley District Council, in addition to serving as the 27 Council Secretary for five years; Dick was elected Executive 28 Secretary-Treasurer of the Illinois State Council of 29 Carpenters in 1983, a position he has remained in until his 30 decision to retire; and 31 WHEREAS, While serving in his capacity as Executive -2- LRB9011629KBkb 1 Secretary-Treasurer, Dick Ladzinski has planned all state 2 conventions, served as a registered lobbyist, organized 3 training seminars, worked in and been involved with the 4 Illinois State Fair, and he has planned all banquets, 5 entertainment, and major activities for the group; Dick has 6 worked with the Prevailing Wage Committee and the Prevailing 7 Wage Hearings, has campaigned for labor related candidates, 8 has raised funds for the Illinois Valley Regional Airport, 9 has been involved with CETA and Weatherization activities, 10 and he has worked with the Shelter Care Home; and 11 WHEREAS, Dick Ladzinski was married to Ruth Wall for 12 thirty-three years until her death in 1987; together they 13 raised eight children: Richard, Michael, David, Mary, 14 Timothy, Susan, Thomas, and Julia; therefore, be it 15 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 16 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 17 congratulate Dick Ladzinski on his retirement from the 18 Illinois State Council of Carpenters; we wish him continued 19 good health and success in his future endeavors; and be it 20 further 21 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 22 presented to Dick Ladzinski upon the occasion of his 23 retirement.
