1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to honor the Libertyville Woman's Club
4 upon the celebration of their ninety-fifth anniversary; and
5 WHEREAS, The Libertyville Woman's Club was organized in
6 1903 as the Alpha Club; in later years it affiliated with the
7 General Federation of Women's Clubs; the Libertyville Woman's
8 Club founded the first library in the community and has
9 continued to supply the community with gifts of time, aid,
10 money and support; and
11 WHEREAS, The Libertyville Woman's Club is proud to have
12 included in its ranks Clara Colby, one-time member and
13 president and the first woman to vote in a municipal election
14 in Illinois; and
15 WHEREAS, The Libertyville Woman's Club provides
16 scholarships to high school students and GED graduates; the
17 Club contributes to reading programs in the public schools,
18 PADS, the Veteran's Hospital, the Indian Center as well as
19 many other local agencies; and
20 WHEREAS, The Libertyville Woman's Club has supported the
21 General Federation of Women's Clubs in Illinois and national
22 projects; two such projects were the restoration of the
23 Assembly Room at Independence Hall in Philadelphia and the
24 restoration work on the Statue of Liberty; therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
27 congratulate the Libertyville Woman's Club on the celebration
28 of their ninety-fifth anniversary; may they continue to be a
29 valued part of their community; and be it further
30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
31 presented to the Libertyville Woman's Club.
