90_HR0120 LRB9005548CBcbA 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives takes 3 great pride in and expresses gratitude to those citizens who 4 assume great personal risk to protect the lives and 5 well-being of other citizens; and 6 WHEREAS, On Wednesday, October 16, 1996, Officer James 7 Mullen of the 24th Police District in the City of Chicago 8 responded to a radio call of shots fired and, in the course 9 of this response, Officer Mullen was seriously injured; and 10 WHEREAS, Officer Mullen is respected by his fellow police 11 officers as a comrade who performed heroically in the line of 12 duty; and 13 WHEREAS, Officer James Mullen and his wife, Officer 14 Athena Mullen, have dedicated their lives to serving and 15 protecting the citizens of Chicago; and 16 WHEREAS, The citizens of Chicago have followed the 17 valiant struggle that Officer James Mullen and Officer Athena 18 Mullen have waged to recover from this injury; therefore, be 19 it 20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 21 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 22 commend and applaud Officer James Mullen and Officer Athena 23 Mullen for their brave service to the City of Chicago and 24 extend our sincere wish for success in facing all challenges 25 in the future; and be it further 26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 27 presented to them as an expression of our respect and esteem.
