90_HR0053 HDS90HRxxxxJHr397mm 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The need to protect the lives and safety of the 3 citizens of Illinois is one of the main concerns of this 4 Body; and 5 WHEREAS, Illinois law requires that every railroad ensure 6 that all crossings meet specific safety standards, are 7 unobstructed, and equipped with warning signals; and 8 WHEREAS, It has been brought to our attention that the 9 crossing at 94th and Kedzie in Evergreen Park has been the 10 scene of a tragic accident which resulted in the death of a 11 teenage boy in February of 1997; therefore, be it 12 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 13 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 14 request that the Illinois Department of Transportation 15 conduct a safety study of the railroad crossing at 94th and 16 Kedzie in Evergreen Park to determine the need for additional 17 crossing warnings, lights, bells, signals, and pedestrian 18 gates; and be it further 19 RESOLVED, That the Department shall report its findings 20 and recommendations to the Governor and the General Assembly 21 on or before June 1, 1997; and be it further 22 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 23 delivered to Secretary of Transportation Kirk Brown.
