1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body are pleased to
3 recognize individuals who have excelled in the field of
4 athletics; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Jeanne Knight
6 was recently inducted into the Centralia Sports Hall of Fame;
7 and
8 WHEREAS, As a student at Centralia High School, Jeanne
9 Knight was a member of the girls track team when girls sports
10 were first beginning to develop sanctioned competition; and
11 WHEREAS, In 1973, as a member of the first girls track
12 team at CHS, Jeanne Knight won the shot put at each meet,
13 including the district meet; at State, she claimed the shot
14 put championship with a toss of 38' 9 1/2", a record which
15 still stands at Centralia High School; and
16 WHEREAS, A pioneer in girls sports, Jeanne Knight will
17 long be remembered for her many achievements and honors;
18 therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
21 congratulate Jeanne Knight on being inducted into the
22 Centralia Sports Hall of Fame and extend our sincere best
23 wishes to her for the future; and be it further
24 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
25 presented to Jeanne Knight.
