90_HJ0040 LRB9007718KBkbA 1 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The Bond County Veterans Memorial was dedicated 3 on the grounds of the Bond County Courthouse in Greenville, 4 Illinois, on November 11, 1997; and 5 WHEREAS, Tony Koonce, Commander of AMVETS Post 140 was 6 the Master of Ceremonies for the event; Reverend Fred 7 Berghoff, a World War II veteran, led the invocation prayer; 8 the posting of colors was received by the Veterans Honor 9 Guard; the national anthem was sung by Debbie Blankenship; 10 the guest speakers were Illinois State Representative Kurt 11 Granberg and Illinois State Senator Frank Watson; music was 12 performed by Celebrations; a special presentation was made by 13 Jack Odom and Lester Blankenship, Commander of VFW Post 1377; 14 and the Benediction prayer was given by the Reverend Kendall 15 Mayhew, LTC Retired; and 16 WHEREAS, The Veterans Honor Guard was comprised of AMVETS 17 Post 140 of Bond County, VFW Post 1377 of Greenville, 18 American Legion 282 of Greenville, American Legion Kessinger 19 Post 173 of Sorento, American Legion 1104 of Pocahontas, and 20 American Legion Post 1180 of Mulberry Grove; therefore, be it 21 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 22 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE 23 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we salute the proud men and 24 women of Bond County, Illinois, who will be forever 25 remembered by their community with the dedication of the Bond 26 County Veterans Memorial; and be it further 27 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 28 given to AMVETS Post 140, VFW Post 1377, American Legion 282, 29 American Legion Kessinger Post 713, American Legion 1104, and 30 American Legion Post 1180.
