1 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois General Assembly
3 wish to honor Highland Park High School and the Class of
4 1947; and
5 WHEREAS, Highland Park, Illinois is the home to Highland
6 Park High School; the Class of 1947 has seen many changes in
7 fifty years, including the growth and expansion of their
8 community, and changes in society; and
9 WHEREAS, The Class of 1947 has pride; the Class of 1947
10 is proud of their stick-togetherness, their teamwork, and
11 their school; in 1947 the students of Highland Park High
12 School learned about cooperation, and as a result of that
13 lesson, they have continued to be examples of a cooperative
14 spirit; and
15 WHEREAS, As a class that saw the beginning and end of
16 World War II, the Class of 1947 saw the need for a good
17 education; they knew that they too may go to war; together
18 they held jobs throughout the community; as a result, they
19 learned about the work ethic, and developed skills and values
20 that they continued to pass on to their children and
21 grandchildren; and
22 WHEREAS, The Class of 1947 will meet on October 17 and
23 18, 1997; over the course of the weekend they will share
24 where they have been, and where they will continue to go; old
25 friends will gather together and the memories will flow;
26 therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
28 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
29 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we honor the Highland Park
30 High School Class of 1947; may their fiftieth anniversary
31 reunion be remembered as a special time for each classmate;

2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to the Class of 1947.
