Amends the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois.
Provides that the Department of Transportation shall make
annual grants to municipalities for the maintenance of
vaulted sidewalks. Amends the State Finance Act to create
the Vaulted Sidewalk Fund. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT relating to vaulted sidewalks, amending named
2 Acts.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is
6 amended by adding Section 49.20a as follows:
7 (20 ILCS 2705/49.20a new)
8 Sec. 49.20a. Vaulted sidewalk program. The Department
9 shall administer a program through which grants shall be made
10 to municipalities from monies in the Vaulted Sidewalk Fund, a
11 special fund that is created in the State treasury. The
12 grants shall be made on an annual basis and shall not exceed
13 the expenses of the applicant municipality in maintaining,
14 repairing, and reconstructing vaulted sidewalks in the
15 municipality during the year for which the grant is received.
16 Section 10. The State Finance Act is amended by adding
17 Section 5.480 as follows:

19 Sec. 5.480. The Vaulted Sidewalk Fund.
20 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
21 becoming law.
