Provides that as part of the discharging process, a hospital may provide material prepared by the Department of Public Health instructing the mother on how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, rather than the Heimlich Maneuver, on an infant. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by 6 changing Section 6.18 as follows: 7 (210 ILCS 85/6.18) 8 Sec. 6.18. Instruction on cardiopulmonary resuscitation 9 (CPR)Heimlich maneuverto mothers of newborns. As part of 10 the process of discharging a newborn infant, a hospital may 11 provide the infant's mother with material prepared and 12 provided by the Department instructing the mother on how to 13 properly perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in 14 accordance with American Heart Association guidelinesthe15Heimlich maneuveron the infant.
