The Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 is 6 amended by changing Section 103-3 as follows: 7 (725 ILCS 5/103-3) (from Ch. 38, par. 103-3) 8 Sec. 103-3. Right to communicate with attorney and 9 family; transfers. 10 (a) Persons who are arrested shall have the right to 11 communicate with an attorney of their choice and a member of 12 their family by making a reasonable number of telephone calls 13 or in any other reasonable manner. Such communication shall 14 be permitted within a reasonable time after arrival at the 15 first place of custody. 16 (b) In the event the accused is transferred to a new 17 place of custody his right to communicate with an attorney 18 and a member of his or her family is renewed. 19 (Source: Laws 1963, p. 2836.)
