LRB9009447RCcd HB2734 Enrolled LRB9009447RCcd 1 AN ACT to amend the Attorney General Act by changing 2 Section 4c. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Attorney General Act is amended by 6 changing Section 4c as follows: 7 (15 ILCS 205/4c) (from Ch. 14, par. 4c) 8 Sec. 4c. Subject to the qualifications set forth below, 9 investigators employed by the Attorney General shall be peace 10 officers and as such shall have allthepowers possessed by 11 policemen in cities, andbysheriffs, except that they;12provided, that Attorney General's investigatorsmay exercise 13 such powers anywhere in the State. The Attorney General's 14 investigators shallincooperatecooperationwith the police 15 of cities, villages and incorporated towns, and with the 16 police officers of any county, in enforcing the laws of the 17 State and in making arrests and recovering propertyafter18contact with the local law enforcement officials. 19 No investigator employed by the Attorney General shall 20 have peace officer status or exercise police powers unless he 21 or she successfully completes the basic police training 22 course mandated and approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement 23 Training Standards Board or such board waives the training 24 requirement by reason of the investigator's prior law 25 enforcement experience or training or both. 26 The board shall not waive the training requirement unless 27 the investigator has had a minimum of 5 years experience as a 28 sworn officer of a local, state or federal law enforcement 29 agency, 2 of which shall have been in an investigatory 30 capacity. 31 (Source: P.A. 90-540, eff. 12-1-97.)
