          Amends the Liquor Control Act of 1934.   Adds  a  caption
      and  makes  technical  changes  to the Section concerning the
      scope of the Act.

 1        AN ACT to  amend  the  Liquor  Control  Act  of  1934  by
 2    changing Section 2-1.
 3        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:
 5        Section 5.  The Liquor Control Act of 1934 is amended  by
 6    changing Section 2-1 as follows:
 7        (235 ILCS 5/2-1) (from Ch. 43, par. 96)
 8        Sec.  2-1.   Scope  of Act.  No person shall manufacture,
 9    bottle, blend, sell, barter, transport, deliver,  furnish  or
10    possess any alcoholic liquor for beverage purposes, except as
11    specifically provided in this Act, provided, however, nothing
12    herein   contained   shall   prevent   the   possession   and
13    transportation  of  alcoholic  liquor for the personal use of
14    the possessor, his or her family and guests, nor prevent  the
15    making  of  wine, cider or other alcoholic liquor by a person
16    from fruits, vegetables, or grains, or the products  thereof,
17    by  simple  fermentation  and  without distillation, if it is
18    made solely for the use of the maker, his or her family,  and
19    his  or  her guests; and provided further that nothing herein
20    contained  shall  prevent  any   duly   licensed   practicing
21    physician  or  dentist  from  possessing  or  using alcoholic
22    liquor in the strict  practice  of  his  profession,  or  any
23    hospital  or  other  institution caring for sick and diseased
24    persons, from possessing and using alcoholic liquor  for  the
25    treatment  of  bona  fide  patients of such hospital or other
26    institution;  and  provided  further  that  any  drug   store
27    employing a licensed pharmacist may possess and use alcoholic
28    liquors  in  the concoction of prescriptions of duly licensed
29    physicians; and provided further,  that  the  possession  and
30    dispensation  of  wine by an authorized representative of any
31    church for the purpose of conducting any bona  fide  rite  or

 1    religious  ceremony  conducted  by  such  church shall not be
 2    prohibited by this Act.
