Amends the Wildlife Code to require the Department of
Natural Resources to establish a program in every county
contiguous to a county with a population of more than
3,000,000 for harvesting a certain percentage of Canada geese
each year and using the harvested geese as a food source for
local food banks.

1 AN ACT to amend the Wildlife Code by adding Section 1.34.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Wildlife Code is amended by adding
5 Section 1.34 as follows:
6 (520 ILCS 5/1.34 new)
7 Sec. 1.34. Canada geese harvest program. The Department
8 shall establish a program in every county that is contiguous
9 to a county with a population of more than 3,000,000 for
10 harvesting a percentage of Canada geese, as determined by the
11 Department, each year and using the harvested Canada geese as
12 a food source for local food banks.
