The Snow and Ice Removal Act is amended by 6 changing Sections 1 and 2 as follows: 7 (745 ILCS 75/1) (from Ch. 70, par. 201) 8 Sec. 1. It is declared to be the public policy of this 9 State that personsowners and others residing in residential10unitsbe encouraged to cleanthe sidewalks abuttingtheir 11 propertyresidencesof snow and ice. The General Assembly, 12 therefore, determines that it is undesirable for any person 13 to be found liable for damages due to his or her efforts in 14 the removal of snow or ice from such propertysidewalks, 15 except for acts which amount to clear wrongdoing, as 16 described in Section 2 of this Act. 17 (Source: P.A. 81-591.) 18 (745 ILCS 75/2) (from Ch. 70, par. 202) 19 Sec. 2. Any owner, lessor, occupant or other person in 20 charge of anyresidentialproperty, or any agent of or other 21 person engaged by any such party, who removes or attempts to 22 remove snow or ice fromsidewalks abuttingthe property shall 23 not be liable for any personal injuries allegedly caused by 24 the snowy or icy condition of the propertysidewalkresulting 25 from his or her acts or omissions unless the alleged 26 misconduct was willful or wanton. 27 (Source: P.A. 81-591.)
