The Medical Practice Act of 1987 is amended 6 by changing Section 54 as follows: 7 (225 ILCS 60/54) (from Ch. 111, par. 4400-54) 8 (Text of Section before amendment by P.A. 89-702) 9 Sec. 54. AAnyperson who holds himself or herself out 10 to treat human ailments under any name other than his or her 11theirown, or by personation of any physician, shall be 12 punished as provided in Section 59. 13 However, nothing in this Act shall be construed as 14 prohibiting medical corporations as authorized by "The 15 Medical Corporation Act", "The Professional Service 16 Corporation Act", or "An Act to authorize professional 17 associations", as now or hereafter amended. 18 (Source: P.A. 85-4.) 19 (Text of Section after amendment by P.A. 89-702) 20 Sec. 54. A person who holds himself or herself out to 21 treat human ailments under a name other than his or her own, 22 or by personation of any physician, shall be punished as 23 provided in Section 59. 24 However, nothing in this Act shall be construed as 25 prohibiting partnerships, limited liability companies, 26 associations, or corporations in accordance with item (14) of 27 subsection (A) of Section 22 of this Act. 28 (Source: P.A. 89-702, eff. 7-1-97.)
