Amend House Bill 1784 on page 12, 3 line 2, immediately after the period, by inserting the 4 following: 5 "However, when hiring additional workers to provide these 6 preventive services, the Department or authorized service 7 providers shall not discriminate against persons who have 8 exhausted their federal or State public assistance benefits. 9 The Department or an authorized service provider does not 10 violate the provisions of this amendatory Act of 1997 when 11 terminating for cause a worker currently providing these 12 preventive services."; and 13 on page 18, line 22, by deleting "the Department or"; and 14 on page 18, line 26, immediately after the period, by 15 inserting the following: 16 "The Department shall not establish a policy displacing 17 workers providing these preventive services, including 18 partial displacement through reduction of hours, wages, or 19 benefits, with persons who have exhausted their federal or 20 State public assistance benefits. However, when hiring 21 additional workers to provide these preventive services, the 22 Department or authorized service providers shall not 23 discriminate against persons who have exhausted their federal -2- LRB9003827PTbdam 1 or State public assistance benefits.
