Amend House Bill 1640, AS AMENDED, 3 with reference to page and line numbers of Senate Amendment 4 No. 2, on page 36, by replacing lines 32 through 33 with 5 "issued for categories corresponding to Early Childhood 6Education, ElementaryEducation,andSecondaryEducation, and 7 Special K-12,; and 8 on page 37, by replacing lines 20 and 21 with "Early 9 ChildhoodEducation, ElementaryEducation,andSecondary 10Education, and Special K-12, with special certification 11 designations"; and 12 on page 38, by replacing lines 17 and 18 with "teachers 13 pursuing Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary, or Special 14 K-12 certificates receive,"; and 15 by replacing lines 16 through 34 on page 39 and, lines 1 16 through 3 on page 40 with the following: 17 "(b) Those persons holding special certificates on 18 January 1, 1999 shall be eligible for one of the following: 19 (1) The issuance of Standard Elementary and 20 Standard Secondary Certificates with appropriate special 21 certification designations as determined by the State 22 Board of Education, in consultation with the State -2- SRS90HB1640KSawam06 1 Teacher Certification Board, and consistent with rules 2 adopted by the State Board of Education. These 3 certificates shall be renewed as provided in subsection 4 (c) of Section 21-2. 5 (2) The issuance of Standard Special K-12 6 Certificates with appropriate special certification 7 designations, which shall be renewed as provided in 8 subsection (c) of Section 21-2. These certificates shall 9 not be eligible for additional certification designations 10 except as approved by the State Board of Education, in 11 consultation with the State Teacher Certification Board. 12 (c) Those persons eligible to receive K-12 certification 13 after January 1, 1999 shall be issued Initial Elementary and 14 Initial Secondary Certificates with appropriate special 15 certification designations pursuant to this Section or 16 Initial Special K-12 Certificates with appropriate special 17 certification designations pursuant to this Section. These 18 Initial K-12 Special Certificates shall not be eligible for 19 additional certification designations except as approved by 20 the State Board of Education, in consultation with the State 21 Teacher Certification Board. 22Beginning January 1, 1999, special certification designations23shall be issued for Special Education, Bilingual Education,24fundamental learning areas (Language Arts, Reading,25Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Physical Development26and Health, Fine Arts, and Foreign Language), and other areas27designated by the State Board of Education, to persons who28meet all of the criteria established by the State Board of29Education, in consultation with the State Teacher30Certification Board.".
