1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1613
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Bill 1613, on page 1, by
3 replacing lines 1 and 2 with the following:
4 "AN ACT in relation to domestic violence."; and
5 on page 1, by inserting between lines 4 and 5 the following:
6 "Section 2. The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by
7 adding Section 12-6.3 as follows:
8 (720 ILCS 5/12-6.3 new)
9 Sec. 12-6.3. Interfering with the reporting of domestic
10 violence.
11 (a) A person commits the offense of interfering with the
12 reporting of domestic violence when, after having committed
13 an act of domestic violence, he or she prevents or attempts
14 to prevent the victim of or a witness to the act of domestic
15 violence from calling a 9-1-1 emergency telephone system,
16 obtaining medical assistance, or making a report to any law
17 enforcement official.
18 (b) For the purposes of this Section, the following
19 terms shall have the indicated meanings:
20 (1) "Domestic violence" shall have the meaning
21 ascribed to it in Section 112A-3 of the Code of Criminal

1 Procedure of 1963.
2 (2) "Family or household members" shall have the
3 meaning ascribed to it in Section 112A-3 of the Code of
4 Criminal Procedure of 1963.
5 (c) Sentence. Interfering with the reporting of
6 domestic violence is a Class A misdemeanor.".
