Amends the Department of Veterans Affairs Act. Makes a
technical change to the Section concerning admission of any
widow or widower of an honorably discharged veteran to a
home.

1 AN ACT to amend the Department of Veterans Affairs Act by
2 changing Section 2.02.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Department of Veterans Affairs Act is
6 amended by changing Section 2.02 as follows:
7 (20 ILCS 2805/2.02) (from Ch. 126 1/2, par. 67.02)
8 Sec. 2.02. Admission to homes. Any widow or widower of
9 any honorably discharged veteran who meets the qualifications
10 specified in Section 2.01 and who was a resident of the State
11 of Illinois for a continuous period of one year immediately
12 before making application, who has no adequate means of
13 support, and is unable to earn a living is entitled to
14 admission to the Illinois Veterans Homes at Anna and Quincy
15 should vacant beds exist. Preference for filling vacant beds
16 or for filling vacant beds from a waiting list shall be
17 granted first to eligible veterans.
