      305 ILCS 5/12-4.5a new
          Amends  the  Public  Aid   Code.    Provides   that   the
      Departments  of  Public  Aid  and  Human  Services shall make
      adjustments in their programs as necessary in order  to  give
      priority  to  serving  persons  who  are homeless, at risk of
      becoming homeless, or otherwise adversely affected by  reason
      of   having  their  assistance  under  the  Code  reduced  or
      discontinued as a result of changes in federal and State  law
      pursuant  to  Public Law 104-193 (the Personal Responsibility
      and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996) and who  may
      need temporary assistance.  Effective immediately.

 1        AN  ACT  to  amend the Illinois Public Aid Code by adding
 2    Section 12-4.5a.
 3        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:
 5        Section   5.   The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by
 6    adding Section 12-4.5a as follows:
 7        (305 ILCS 5/12-4.5a new)
 8        Sec. 12-4.5a.  Persons adversely affected by federal law.
 9    The  Illinois  Department  shall  make  adjustments  in   its
10    programs  as  necessary  in order to give priority to serving
11    persons who are homeless, at risk of  becoming  homeless,  or
12    otherwise  adversely  affected  by  reason  of  having  their
13    assistance  under  this  Code  reduced  or  discontinued as a
14    result of changes in federal and State law pursuant to Public
15    Law 104-193 (the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity
16    Reconciliation Act  of  1996)  and  who  may  need  temporary
17    assistance.
18        Section  99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect upon
19    becoming law.
