105 ILCS 5/2-3.77a new
Amends the School Code. Authorizes the State Board of
Education to make grants to school districts to pay emergency
relocation expenses incurred as a result of the condemnation
of a school building. Provides that the grants shall be made
from appropriations made for that purpose pursuant to
eligibility standards and criteria for expenses that qualify
as emergency relocation expenses that the State Board of
Education shall by rule prescribe. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT to amend the School Code by adding Section
2 2-3.77a.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
6 2-3.77a as follows:
7 (105 ILCS 5/2-3.77a new)
8 Sec. 2-3.77a. Grants for emergency relocation expenses
9 following condemnation of a school building. The State Board
10 of Education may, from appropriations made for this purpose,
11 make grants to school districts to pay emergency relocation
12 expenses incurred as a result of the condemnation of a school
13 building under Section 3-14.22. The Board shall adopt rules
14 necessary to implement this grant program. The rules shall
15 prescribe eligibility standards for school districts, as well
16 as those expenses that qualify as emergency relocation
17 expenses, including expenses for the lease or renovation of
18 facilities, for additional transportation, and for other
19 costs directly associated with the emergency relocation of
20 school operations as a result of the condemnation of a school
21 building.
22 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
23 becoming law.
