Amends the Illinois Insurance Code and the Health
Maintenance Organization Act. Requires administrators of
health care services and health maintenance organizations to
specifically inform beneficiaries and enrollees of the terms
and conditions of coverage for mental health care.

1 AN ACT requiring disclosure of mental health coverage
2 benefits, amending named Acts.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by
6 adding Section 370t as follows:
7 (215 ILCS 5/370t new)
8 Sec. 370t. Mental health coverage disclosure. An
9 administrator shall specifically inform all beneficiaries of
10 the mental health coverage provided. This explanation shall
11 include all limitations and restrictions on choice of
12 services and providers.
13 Section 10. The Health Maintenance Organization Act is
14 amended by adding Section 5-3.4 as follows:
15 (215 ILCS 125/5-3.4 new)
16 Sec. 5-3.4. Mental health coverage disclosure. A health
17 maintenance organization shall specifically inform all
18 enrollees of the mental health care coverage provided. This
19 explanation shall include all limitations and restrictions on
20 choice of services and providers.
