The Illinois Abortion Law of 1975 is amended 6 by changing Section 13 as follows: 7 (720 ILCS 510/13) (from Ch. 38, par. 81-33) 8 Sec. 13. No physician, hospital, ambulatory surgical 9 center, nor employee thereof, shall be required against his, 10 her, or its conscience declared in writing to perform, permit 11 or participate in any abortion, and the failure or refusal to 12 do so shall not be the basis for any civil, criminal, 13 administrative or disciplinary action, proceeding, penalty or 14 punishment. A physician, hospital, ambulatory surgical 15 center, or employee of any of these persons or entities, who 16 invokes his, her, or its right of conscience by refusing to 17 perform, permit, or participate in an abortion, shall post a 18 notice of the objections in the patient waiting room. If any 19 request for an abortion is denied, the patient shall be 20 promptly notified. 21 (Source: P.A. 81-1078.)
