20 ILCS 415/8b.7a new
Amends the Personnel Code. Provides for the granting of
a preference in appointments to positions in State service to
persons who have performed work for the State as participants
in the Earnfare program operated under the Public Aid Code.
Provides that this preference is not superior to any other
existing preference granted under the Personnel Code.

1 AN ACT to amend the Personnel Code by adding Section
2 8b.7a.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Personnel Code is amended by adding
6 Section 8b.7a as follows:
7 (20 ILCS 415/8b.7a new)
8 Sec. 8b.7a. Preference; Earnfare participant. For the
9 granting of appropriate preference in appointments to any
10 positions in the State service to qualified persons who have
11 performed work for the State as participants in the Earnfare
12 program operated by the Department of Public Aid under the
13 Illinois Public Aid Code. A preference granted under this
14 Section is not superior to a preference granted under any
15 other provision of this Code in effect on the effective date
16 of this amendatory Act of 1997.
