The Criminal Proceeding Interpreter Act is 6 amended by changing Section 3 as follows: 7 (725 ILCS 140/3) (from Ch. 38, par. 165-13) 8 Sec. 3. Fees; payment. 9 (a) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (b), the 10 court shall determine a reasonable fee for all such 11 interpreter services which shall be paid out of the general 12 county funds. 13 (b) Upon entry of an order of conviction or disposition 14 of supervision in any criminal proceeding in which 15 interpreter services are provided, the court may enter 16 against the defendant as additional costs and fees, the 17 reasonable costs of interpreter services. Upon appointment 18 of an interpreter by the court, the defendant shall file with 19 the court an affidavit under oath setting forth the 20 defendant's ability to pay for the costs of interpreter 21 services. This subsection (b) does not apply to interpreters 22 for the deaf or hearing impaired. 23 (Source: P.A. 77-1527.)
