LRB9002482MWpc LRB9002482MWpc 1 AN ACT to amend the Lobbyist Registration Act by adding 2 Section 6.5. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Lobbyist Registration Act is amended by 6 adding Section 6.5 as follows: 7 (25 ILCS 170/6.5 new) 8 Sec. 6.5. Reports of compensation. 9 (a) Every person required to register under Section 3 10 shall report under oath to the Secretary of State all 11 compensation received by or behalf of that person for 12 lobbying. 13 (b) The report shall include the name of the person from 14 whom the compensation was received, the total amount of the 15 compensation, the date on which the compensation was 16 received, and the subject matter of the lobbying activity, if 17 any. The report shall be on a form prescribed by the 18 Secretary of State. 19 (c) Reports required by this Section shall be filed by 20 July 31, for compensation received from the previous January 21 1 through the later of June 30 or the final day of the 22 regular General Assembly session, and by January 31, for 23 compensation received during the entire previous calendar 24 year. A registrant shall preserve for a period of 2 years 25 all records used in preparing reports under this Section. 26 (d) Registrants who received no reportable compensation 27 during a reporting period shall file a report stating that no 28 compensation was received. The reports shall be filed by the 29 deadlines prescribed in this Section. 30 (e) A registrant who terminates employment or duties 31 that require him or her to register under this Act shall give -2- LRB9002482MWpc 1 the Secretary of State, within 30 days after the termination, 2 written notice of the termination and shall include a report 3 of the compensation received, covering the period of time 4 since the filing of the last report to the date of 5 termination of employment. The notice and report shall be 6 final and relieve the registrant of further reporting under 7 this Act, unless and until he or she later takes employment 8 or assumes duties requiring him or her to again register 9 under this Act. 10 (f) Failure to file any report within the time 11 designated or the reporting of incomplete information is a 12 violation of this Act.
