Amends the Child Care Act of 1969. Provides that the
Department of Children and Family Services shall make
available to State residents a toll free telephone number for
inquiries about day care facilities operated in this State.

1 AN ACT to amend the Child Care Act of 1969 by adding
2 Section 12.1.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Child Care Act of 1969 is amended by
6 adding Section 12.1 as follows:
7 (225 ILCS 10/12.1 new)
8 Sec. 12.1. Toll-free number; day care information. The
9 Department shall establish and maintain a single statewide,
10 toll-free telephone number which all persons may use to
11 inquire about the past history and record of any day care
12 facility operating in this State. The Department shall
13 maintain a database containing information including but not
14 limited to, the status of a facility's license and a history
15 of any violations by the facility of this Act, any rules of
16 the Department or any other State agency, or any other State
17 or federal law. Information disclosed in accordance with
18 this Section shall be subject to the confidentiality
19 requirements provided in Sections 4.1 and 4.3 of this Act.
