Amends the Children and Family Services Act. Provides
that the Department of Children and Family Services shall
contract with additional fingerprinting agencies to eliminate
any fingerprinting backlogs by September 30, 1997 for
relative caregivers applying for licensure as foster family
homes, and shall provide more convenient hours and
transportation to fingerprinting sites for relative
caregivers applying for licensure as foster family homes.

1 AN ACT to amend the Children and Family Services Act by
2 adding Section 23.1.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Children and Family Services Act is
6 amended by adding Section 23.1 as follows:
7 (20 ILCS 505/23.1 new)
8 Sec. 23.1. Foster care; fingerprinting.
9 (a) The Department shall contract with additional
10 fingerprinting agencies to eliminate any fingerprinting
11 backlogs by September 30, 1997 for relative caregivers
12 applying for licensure as foster family homes.
13 (b) The Department shall provide more convenient hours
14 and transportation to fingerprinting sites for relative
15 caregivers applying for licensure as foster family homes.
16 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
17 becoming law.
