1 AN ACT to amend the School Code by adding Section
2 2-3.120.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
6 2-3.120 as follows:
7 (105 ILCS 5/2-3.120 new)
8 Sec. 2-3.120. Bilingual education funding. The State
9 Board of Education shall take such steps as are reasonably
10 necessary to develop additional funding and funding sources
11 for bilingual education in the common schools, including
12 making or recommending such revisions and adjustments to the
13 State Board of Education's proposed budget for elementary and
14 secondary education programs each year as may be required to
15 assure a reasonable increase in bilingual education funding
16 in the common schools when compared to the bilingual
17 education funding level for the common schools for the
18 preceding fiscal year.
