Amends the School Code. Provides that the Chicago Board
of Education shall establish a pilot program to prevent
crimes. Requires the board to identify students who are at
risk of committing crimes but who are not yet disciplinary
problems. Provides for a guided tour of prison to discourage
criminal behavior.

1 AN ACT to amend the School Code by adding Section
2 34-18.17.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
6 34-18.17 as follows:
7 (105 ILCS 5/34-18.17 new)
8 Sec. 34-18.17. Prison tour pilot program. The board of
9 education shall establish a pilot program to prevent crime by
10 developing guidelines to identify students who are at risk of
11 committing crimes but who are not yet disciplinary problems.
12 This program, implemented in cooperation with the Department
13 of Corrections, shall include a guided tour of a prison for
14 each student so identified in order to discourage criminal
15 behavior.
