Amends the School Code. Makes a technical change in a
provision of the School Code relating to the annual audit of
the accounts of the board of education.

1 AN ACT to amend the School Code by changing Section
2 34-29.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing
6 Section 34-29 as follows:
7 (105 ILCS 5/34-29) (from Ch. 122, par. 34-29)
8 Sec. 34-29. Audit of accounts. The board shall for each
9 fiscal year and may as often as necessary, appoint certified
10 public accountants to examine the business methods and audit
11 the accounts of the board as of December 31, 1972, as of
12 December 31, 1973, as of August 31, 1974, as of August 31 of
13 each year thereafter through August 31, 1996, as of June 30,
14 1997, and as of June 30 of each year thereafter, and a report
15 thereof, together with any recommendations of such
16 accountants as to changes in business methods of the board or
17 any of its departments, officers or employees shall be made
18 to the mayor, the city council, and the board and be filed in
19 the records of the board. The board shall prepare and publish
20 an annual report including in detail all receipts and
21 expenditures, specifying the source of the receipts and the
22 objects of the expenditures, and shall transmit it to the
23 mayor and the city council. The board shall account for the
24 expenses of each fiscal year but shall not be required to
25 make any apportionment of such expenses between the 2 two
26 separate levies made during each calendar year.
