Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.

Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.

    Sec. 0.01. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Appellate Court Law Clerk and Secretary Act.

    (705 ILCS 30/1) (from Ch. 37, par. 60)
    Sec. 1. Each judge of the appellate court may appoint one senior law clerk and one junior law clerk to assist the judge as the judge may direct. Such appointment shall be made in writing, and shall be filed with the Supreme Court. The law clerks shall each receive such salary as the Supreme Court may determine. Such law clerks shall be graduates of an accredited law school.

    Sec. 2. Each appellate court judge may appoint one stenographic secretary to assist the judge as the judge may direct. The stenographic secretary so appointed shall receive such salary as the Supreme Court may determine.
