Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.

    (410 ILCS 535/17.5)
    Sec. 17.5. Certificates of birth; redaction of certifying health care professional.
    (a) The Department shall issue a certified copy of a certificate of birth with the identity of the certifying health care professional, as defined in Section 1, redacted only upon the specific written request by:
        (1) the person to whom the certificate of birth
    
relates if he or she is of legal age;
        (2) the person described in paragraph (1)'s parent or
    
legal guardian; or
        (3) the person described in paragraph (1)'s
    
representative if he or she is not of legal age.
    (b) No name or information other than that listed in subsection (a) may be redacted.
    (c) The issuance of a certified copy of a certificate of birth shall not constitute the establishment of a new certificate of birth under Section 17 or an amended certificate of birth under Section 22. Issuance of a certified copy of a certificate of birth under this Section is subject to all other requirements regarding the issuance of certificates of birth under this Act.
    (d) The Department may adopt any rules necessary to implement the provisions of this Section.
